Katrina Murphy

The training

Katrina trained at the Arts Educational School, won the Tom Merrifield Scholarship to study at the London Studio Centre, and completed her classical training at the Royal College of Music, where she studied under Heather Harper, Marion Studholme and Kenneth Woolham.

The West End

Her last leading role in the West End was Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, for Cameron Mackintosh and the Really Useful Group, having previously played the role on the national tour. Before that she played Carrie in Cameron Mackintosh's production of Carousel at the Shaftesbury Theatre, having understudied and played the part at the Royal National Theatre.

Other stage credits include Robert & Elizabeth at Chichester, the national tour of Kiss Me Kate, the title role in the British premiere of The Girl With The Roses at the Bloomsbury Theatre, and the lead role of the Spirit of Sherwood Forest in Robin Hood at the Theatre Royal Plymouth alongside Nigel Havers and Lee Mead.

Opera and the concert stage

Katrina played Diana in Orpheus in the Underworld for Opera North, the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni and Frasquita in Carmen for Travelling Opera, and Valencienne in The Merry Widow for Opera della Luna.

She has performed with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Scottish Opera Orchestra, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra. She sang Bernstein in the 50s at Symphony Hall Birmingham under Sir Simon Rattle, and was Larry Adler's guest singer on his Glory of Gershwin tour. She has been a guest soloist at the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and was Michael Ball's guest female singer on his UK concert tour.

Broadcast and recording

Katrina played Marsinah in Kismet, Anne in A Little Night Music and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, all for BBC Radio 2, and has been a guest artist on Radio 2's National Music Day and Friday Night Is Music Night.

Recordings include Carrie on the London cast recording of Carousel, Millie in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Hope in Anything Goes and Grete in The Dancing Years. Television credits include the Laurence Olivier Awards and The Michael Parkinson Show for the BBC.

The company

Katrina founded her own entertainment company to bring that same standard of performer into private and corporate events — and she has been doing it for over fifteen years.

She has performed at Michael Schumacher's retirement celebrations at Ferrari in Maranello, for the Duke of Edinburgh at Windsor Castle, at the Monte Carlo Grand Prix, at the Savoy, the Dorchester, the Ritz, Harrods and the Natural History Museum. Her acts have played New York, Washington DC, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, Florida, Kansas and Grand Cayman.

She hand-picks and rehearses every performer she puts on a stage. If she would not share a stage with them, she will not send them to your event.
